Keep on top of the latest developments in language and methodology. Choose our Teacher training module to explore modern UK style teaching techniques. We concentrate on effective communication in everyday situations, practicing all skills, but with special emphasis on spoken English. We make extensive use of different materials, including in-house and published materials and audio-visual media.
Special attention is paid to methodology, discussing relevant issues within the context of your experience of learning and teaching and the realities of your own school situation.
Objectives
- To develop the principles of modern teaching techniques
- To understand and utilise a variety of methodologies for specific teaching objectives
- To understand the concept of phonetics and to demonstrate the used of phonology in the classroom
- To demonstrate an awareness of the different teaching aids available in the classroom
- To design lesson plans in line with recommended guidelines
- To evaluate learning outcomes in class
- To manage the classroom environment to maximise learning
- To practice teaching to small groups
Admission requirements
- Minimum age for students is 18
- Students must have gained IELTS 4.5 or above (or equivalent qualification)
Certification
Students will receive a TAE certificate of competence upon successful completion of the following:
- Students must attend 85% of the classroom based tutorials
- Students must complete a minimum of 3 hours teaching practice
- Students must complete the tests in phonology, language teaching methodology, course book evaluation and evaluation test
Award of Advanced Level will be allocated to students with an average of 75% or more. Award of Intermediate Level will be allocated to students with an average of between 50 and 75%.
